There were chaotic scenes at Nigeria’s biggest banks as the government eased a lockdown that had been in place for several weeks to curtail the spread of the coronavirus in Nigeria.
The government had announced a relaxation of the lockdown, allowing citizens to carry out businesses during the day. The biggest retail banks GTBank and Access Bank witnessed a throng of customers who created rowdy scenes at several branches across major cities in the country.
While several customers obeyed the government’s directive of wearing face masks in the public, a lot of customers did not wear masks and nearly everyone seen by the LAGOS TIMES correspondents flouted the social distancing rules enacted by the government.
