Segun Oni, the former governor of Ekiti state, says he will leave the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Mr Oni, an engineer who once served as a national officer in the APC, said he and his supporters had been marginalised by the party.
Mr Oni said he had started the process of reconciling with leaders of the PDP such as former Governor Ayodele Fayose and former Deputy Governor turned Senator, Biodun Olujimi.
Mr Oni was a former governor of Ekiti state where he surprisingly won the PDP’s nomination and the general election before a court judgement nullified his election.
He would later join the APC where he rose to the position of National Vice-Chairman South. He contested the party’s gubernatorial primaries in 2019 against the incumbent governor Kayode Fayemi which he lost.
